Natural disasters
In recent years the world has confronted us with devastating natural disasters like; The Tsunami, the earthquake in pakistan, the Katerina hurricane in the US and the flood in Surinam. Disasters that ruined the housing of thousands of people.
This the reason why FlexiHome felt the need to develop a new type of permanent housing, which can bring comfort and shelter instantly. Size and comfort level of the houses can vary and depend on the needs of the users.
Below you see 6 examples of a very basic house. It’s possible to visit this model.
Construction:
The construction of these houses will be done by the local population. FlexiHome will send along 1 or 2 people with the correct construction knowledge. They will create a team of local people and pass on their knowledge. These people can then create their own construction teams. This is called the `train the trainer' system, which can go on infinitely, depending on the quantity of houses. This means that many teams can build a lot in a short time! With a team of 3 people it's possible to build 2 basic houses (as shown above) per day.
Local supplies:
A warehouse with materials can be placed in the concerning area, so that if something must be replaced, reserve materials are always close at hand. A local fitter will then come and replace or repair it. If needed we can also look after the interior, but mostly will be provided locally. Use of local material is also an option, but is dependent on the available possibilities. FlexiHome works and thinks socially and efficiently!
Transport:
The materials will be carefully packed to prevent damage during transport. We can also arrange the transport to the destination for you. If it concerns sea transport the materials will be shipped in 40ft containers from the port of Rotterdam.

Employment
Having the local population build the houses themselves creates employment and gives the people a sense of self-fullfilment.
Health
Because FlexiHome makes use of extremely hygienical materials the houses are easily kept clean. As a result, the houses offer a healthy environment. A clean and healthy environment ensures that the people become less sick. The climate outside also has no effect on the climate inside.
Education
As you can read under ‘product info’, we can also, among other things, build schools. In both calamity areas and slums, many children lost their school or can't follow classes under normal circumstances. FlexiHome can ensure that children get lessons in a decent school. Schools ensure a future!
